A NOTE FROM RELIANCE ONE FIRST LADIES

Auburn Hills, Michigan – December 11, 2017 – Congratulations Reliance One, Incorporated on your anniversary!  19 years ago, Jim Beath and Jim Paquette, solidified their partnership with a vision of a new staffing company.  We have had the honor of watching these two guys develop a company as well as evolve as businessmen and friends.  This adventure they embarked on came complete with hurdles, as well as success.   As passengers on this ride, we have learned quite a bit about what it takes to start and own a successful business.

First, you have to have the same first name as your business partner.  This makes it much easier for new employees to remember the name of their boss.  Second, you have to be able to work in any atmosphere (basement, attic, loft, car, etc.).  You never know when you’ll be so tight for space that you have to place the printer and fax machine in the closet.  Lastly, you need a connection with a creative writer or a branding agent.  Who else is going to brainstorm all the ism’s on the walls of the office?

In all seriousness, what we have learned from these two remarkable guys is that it takes determination, perseverance, and reflection to begin, maintain, and then grow a successful company like Reliance One, Incorporated.  The nature of starting any business requires grit and determination.  It takes a determined duo like Beath and Paquette to have a vision of the greater plan and consistently aim forward.  They’ve set goals religiously from the onset and adapted those goals to meet the needs of the company.

Becoming successful also demands many sacrifices both personal and professional.  We’ve watched Jim and Jim give up a tremendous amount of personal time over the years and voluntarily take one for the Reliance One team whenever it has been needed.  This has also been the case with many of the Reliance One Team.  Fortunately, their perseverance in envisioning the fruition of the ROI dream has paid off.  This is evident in the many positive relationships both within and outside the company.  It is very apparent that the family of employees who represent Reliance One, Incorporated are also invested in the ROI vision.

Reliance One employees project a well-earned and top-notch reputation.  Ultimately, Beath, Paquette and the ROI family consistently reflect on themselves and the nature of the company.  This ability to reflect and learn (growth mindset) is what has allowed Reliance One Inc. to continue to mature and flourish.

Imagination Leads to Innovation

Reliance One strongly believes in thinking outside the box and impacting change. This is driven by curiosity and the ambition to succeed. In the spirit of change, Reliance One is proud to announce the recent promotions of John Martinez, Mike Loll, Josh Cobleigh, Sean Hill, and Lelia Cotton. Since their promotions, the five have been breaking ground in their new roles.

John Martinez was recently promoted from Technical Recruiter to Account Manager. John is from Auburn Hills, MI and attended Michigan State University where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Advertising. While at MSU, he played college baseball and his senior year, he was named captain. After graduation, he was referred to Reliance One by his twin brother, Jimmy, who is an Account Manager in our Chicago office. John has been part of the Reliance One team since August of 2014 and in January 2016 he was promoted to Account Manager.

Mike Loll was recently promoted from Technical Recruiter to IT Account Manager. Mike is from Davison, MI and attended Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH where he was all conference football and basketball. After college he worked in the Retirement Planning and Insurance field before making the shift to recruiting. He has been with Reliance One since August of 2014 and in January of 2016 he was promoted to IT Account Manager

Josh Cobleigh was recently promoted from Technical Recruiter to Account Manager and made the move to our office in Lisle, IL. Josh is from Flushing, MI and attended Central Michigan University where he majored in Entrepreneurial Studies and minored in Marketing & Professional Sales. He started his career in the Mortgage Industry and also helped to open a Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi restaurant. He made the switch to recruiting when a current employee and childhood friend told him about Reliance One. Josh started at Reliance One in December of 2014 and in January of 2016 he was promoted to Account Manager.

Lelia Cotton started as our HR Intern in September of 2015. Her internship was completed in early January but Reliance One executives knew that they wanted her to join our team permanently, so they decided to expand the Talent Acquisition team. The team consisted of just one Talent Acquisition Specialist but with the immense growth that Reliance One has been undergoing and will be undergoing in the future, they decided to increase the size of the team. Lelia was offered the Talent Acquisition role in January and has been making waves ever since. Rob Wicker, VP of Recruitment and Operations said “she has been going above and beyond to think outside of the box and utilize resources and connections that have never been explored.”

Sean Hill joined Reliance One in December of 2011 as a Technical Recruiter and has climbed his way up the ladder since. He was promoted to a Sr. Technical Recruiter in February of 2014 and has made an effort to make an impact on the people around him and help them grow and develop professionally. All of his hard work paid off and he was promoted again to Talent Acquisition Manager, a new position that was developed to keep up with the growing industry. Jeff Gardner, President, said “we knew that in order to keep up with the growing demand for talent we would have to grow our internal Talent Acquisition Team. Sean has been with the company through thick and thin and has made a huge impact on every person in the company in one way or another”.

Making Dreams Come True

The Reliance One team gathered to celebrate the wish that they granted to seven-year old, Aaron.

Auburn Hills, MI – Reliance One, Inc. was happy to welcome Brenda Moore and Mary Grace McCarter from the Rainbow Connection to our Headquarters last week. Brenda and Mary came by to thank us for our contributions to the Rainbow Connection and to show us what our sponsorship made possible.

This year, Reliance One was able to grant a wish to seven-year old Aaron. Aaron loves the Ninja Turtles, playing outside, reading, and shopping at Wal-Mart. Reliance One is proud to support Aaron’s wish of going to Disneyworld in Florida. We are told that he is very excited to meet all of the Superheroes and characters at Disney!

“We are so proud of our team for putting in the efforts to make this donation possible. We have had remarkable participation in all of our events this year – from wrapping gifts at Carson’s, to change wars, and jeans days, the support from our team has been inspiring,” said Kristen Latimer, VP of Administration and the Chairwoman of R1 Impact. R1 Impact is an initiative that was created to give back to the community and to develop and grow the employees of Reliance One through community service.

Mary Grace McCarter, Executive Director at the Rainbow Connection presented Kristen Latimer, VP of Administration and Chairwoman of R1 Impact with a plaque on behalf of the Rainbow Connection celebrating the Wish that Reliance One granted.

This is the second wish that Reliance One has been able to grant with the Rainbow Connection, an organization that was created to make dreams come true for Michigan children with life threatening illnesses.

Feeding the Community One Backpack at a Time

Auburn Hills, MI – Reliance One, Inc. is proud to announce their sponsorship of  Backpack Night 2016 hosted by Shard Financial Services, Inc. and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

Backpack Night is a project taken on by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan which makes an effort to reduce child hunger, provide education to students on proper nutrition, and encourage healthy lifestyles. The program was created to offer additional support to children who rely on free or reduced-price lunches at school. It provides a backpack full of nutritious foods every weekend throughout the school year so that no child goes hungry. The number of children that are eligible for free or reduced lunch in Michigan is staggering. In Genesee County alone, there is a 55% eligibility rate.

The program states that childhood hunger is a community problem that the community can solve. There are many ways to help. A donation in support of the program is the best way to help the cause. A $100 contribution feeds a child every weekend during the school year. You can also get involved with local community schools and help bring the program to your local district or you could volunteer your services to help fill backpacks during the school day. Wrapping for a Cause

Reliance One employees and their families wrapped presents to raise money for the Rainbow Connection

Auburn Hills, MI – Reliance One teamed up with Carson’s at the Village of Rochester this weekend to make dreams come true. The team wrapped gifts in exchange for donations, which were collected to grant a wish for a child with a life-threatening illness through the Rainbow Connection.

This is the 3rd year that the Reliance One team has volunteered to wrap presents with plans of granting a child’s wish. “We are incredibly close to this year’s goal and we are overjoyed that we will be able to grant another wish this January,” said Kristen Latimer, Vice President of Administration and Head of Reliance One’s community involvement team, R1 Impact. Community service is a significant part of Reliance One’s culture. It allows employees to give back while strengthening team bonds. The motto that we follow is: ‘We’re here to make good things happen for someone else. We do that… and it all works.’
