Reliance One Joins Twisted Root at Santa Cycle

Auburn Hills, MI., Dec. 16, 2014

This holiday season Reliance One participated in the 1st Annual Santa Cycle Fundraiser at Twisted Root Yoga & Fitness. The event was held for 24 hours straight – it launched at 7:00am Friday, December 5th and finished at 6:00am Saturday, December 6th. The purpose of this event was to support a local Clarkston family in need. The funds were raised by asking riders to provide a donation and for the teams to come together and provide donations.

The Twisted Root, owned by Amanda and Rob Elosegui, put together the event at their studio where they have 10 spin bikes. Reliance One sponsored two teams and contributed over $600.00 towards the cause. Kristen Latimer, Vice President of Administration, teamed up with the facility to help expand the R1 Impact team. “Our wellness committee is always looking for opportunities to challenge the staff. We were thrilled to be involved with such a great cause and look forward to riding again next year,” said Latimer.

The total miles accrued for Reliance One riders were 813.9 miles – this was achieved by 26 participants. The miles totaled by the whole studio event for 24 hours were enough to get someone from Clarkston, MI to Las Vegas Nevada; approximately 2,030 miles!

Amanda and Rob are taking time this upcoming weekend to shop for the Clarkston family. The money raised for this local family of three children will be providing a complete holiday meal and gifts for the family for Christmas. As we draw near the holiday, the Impact team is looking forward to contributing to other causes.

Focus Hope – R1 Impact Through Serving Others

March 25, 2014

Last Thursday, the Leadership team at Reliance One volunteered their time with Focus Hope. The team was responsible for handing out food to those that visited the distribution center. This required communication with the Focus Hope team to ensure the supplies were fully stocked. Most R1 members stated that this was the highlight of their day – the customer service focus was easily translated from the daily tasks performed at Reliance One. “I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the individuals that walked through the doors at Focus Hope. Most of the people there were extremely friendly and grateful for my assistance. It was a great reminder of how much of an impact that a smile has,” said Rob Wicker, Director of Recruitment. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around,” (Leo Buscaglia).

In addition, the R1 team was tasked with prepping palettes of juice and various canned goods. This activity was very physically demanding because the heavy items had to be moved and stacked in another area. The R1 team learned that following a pattern on the palette could prove to be challenging. Rob stepped in while stacking to ensure that the second palate was done correctly. Most people agreed that the physical demands were far beyond their regular work duties in the office.

“This was one of my best days! I was really impacted by many people who I met throughout the day. It makes you appreciate an organization like Focus Hope and what they do for the community. I am already looking forward to coming back and giving to those that could use the help,” said VP of Reliance One, Jeff Gardner.

R1 Impact – Through Serving Others

February 4, 2014

Reliance One is introducing an exciting new initiative that will focus on their volunteering and charity programs; “R1 Impact Through Serving Others.” The committee members have put together a program that will benefit both the community and employees. “As a company, we are committed to being involved in the communities with which we do business,” said Jim Beath, President of Reliance One.

The company will continue to support organizations such as; The Rainbow Connection, The Ronald McDonald House and local families through the Adopt a Family program that helps bring joy around the holidays. In addition, the company introduced “The Reliance One Day of Service Program.” Throughout the year, co-workers will join together as teams and devote days of volunteering to organizations in Southeast Michigan. “It is important to me that each and every team member knows how important it to give back to the community. This not only will help with some great causes, but help grow and develop our employees,” said Beath.

Reliance One will be coordinating fundraisers to help support these organizations throughout the year. Our company volunteer efforts and donations will be continuously updated on the R1 website.
